Poem on Hijab

I am a Muslim woman
Feel free to ask me why
When I walk,
I walk with dignity
When I speak
I do not lie

I am a Muslim woman
Not all of me you'll see
But what you should appreciate
Is that the choice I make is free

I'm not plagued with depression
I'm neither cheated nor abused
I don't envy other women
And I'm certainly not confused

Note, I speak perfect English
Et un petit peu de Francais aussi
I'm majoring in Linguistics
So you need not speak slowly

I run my own small business
Every cent I earn is mine
I drive my Chevy to school & work
And no, that's not a crime!

You often stare as I walk by
You don't understand my veil
But peace and power I have found
As I am equal to any male!

I am a Muslim woman
So please don't pity me
For God has guided me to truth
And now I'm finally free!

Asalam ailaikum waramotunlai wabarakatun
I really love the poem it make me feel pride of my self and it touch my heart with joy... Am proud to be a Muslim and hijab is my pride........

that was so good and kinda feel proud of

I LOVE IT. Would it be alright if I use the poem at a school festival? I want to do a spoken word piece.

Bismilaah Reading this poem made me proud, I hope that all muslim women should speak up on their minds and let them know those who think muslim women are slaves of muslim men and forced to cover themselves. There are many of us who lie and make us look bad. I ask Allah to Guide us the rght path.

Masha'Allah! I wear hijab Alhumdulilah, but to put it that way is a whole new way of looking at it! JZK

the poem is great, since it shows our pride of our being as muslim people.

This poem captures the readers attention in a way that makes you happy and glad that you are a muslim. I for one thought that the author was explaining my life. it is very accurate to many people's expirence.

It sent pleasant chills through me when I read it. Subhanallah. May Allah reward the poetess.
