Hijab in Islam: Quranic verses about Hijab

Reference of Hijab can be found in multiple places in Quran. Many poeple ask about Quran Hijab Quotes.

Following are important verses of Quran about Hijab in Islam:

"O you Children of Adam! We have bestowed on you raiment to cover your shame as well as to be an adornment to you. But the raiment of righteousness, that is the best. Such are among the Signs of Allah, that they may receive admonition.” (Quran 7:26)

“And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what must ordinarily appear therof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, or their brothers' sons or their sisters' sons, or their women or the servants whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex, and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O you Believers, turn you all together towards Allah, that you may attain Bliss.” (Quran 24:31).

“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks close round them (when they go abroad). That will be better, so that they may be recognised and not annoyed. Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.” (Quran 33:59).

Salaam,

I've been wondering hijab for my hair, I've worn the hijab my whole life and find wearing it now very extra. When I read the Quran, I find peace in my piety that I am fulfilling so much more of Allah's commands alhumdulilla.

I wear hijab but I'm seriously thinking of removing it soon. I will wear it from time to time of course but don't see that it is Allahs commandment at all.

Hijab (the physical one) is a clear and basic commandmemt from Allah in the quran, and major scholars have NEVER differed over its existence, so who are you to make your own ruling and say its not a commandment? next time go ask a well known scholar of Islam who knows the quran better than you and you will get your answer. Islam is very clear in terms of this issue as Allah said: "draw a part of their outer coverings around them."(33:59)

and to clarify this the Prophet (saw)said :“O Asma, when a woman reaches the age of maturity, it is not proper for her to show anything but this and this,” and the Prophet pointed to his face and hands. (Sunan Abī Dāwūd 4104)

Now that you have read this, there is no way you should have a doubt of the physical hijab existing as a commandment of Allah.

That is weak hadith. Most hadith are weak. The scholars now made Iranian women burn the hijab. They understand Quran wrong because they rely too much on hadith. Hadith are not reliable sources. They are orally transmitted sometimes covering two centuries after the supposed event.

“...that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what must ordinarily appear therof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their.... or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex." ( The verse )

they say draw their veils over their bosoms.... not " The verse also mentions that a woman is free to show her bosom (the part she is to cover) to children who have no idea of the shame of sex." - Misati Randy

either u did not read this properly.... or u are just new to English.

It clearly says ' draw the veils over the bosom'. And from the era and the culture that the Quran is based on, a veil is used to cover the face. And going by what u say, the verse mentions that a woman may show her beauty to her husband, sons of her husband etc etc and then to children who have no idea of the shame of sex, which means a woman may go around showing her breasts to so many other people other than her husband. Unfortunately, your comprehensive ability leaves a lot to be desired.

“But I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying with his head covered, disgraces his head. But every woman praying or prophesying with her head uncovered disgraces her head, for it is the same as if she were shaven.

For if a woman is not covered, let her be shaven. But if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, let her cover her head. A man indeed ought not to cover his head, because he is the image and glory of God. But woman is the glory of man. For man was not created for woman, but woman for man. This is why the woman ought to have a sign of authority over her head, because of the angels.” - New Testament (1 Corinthians 11:3-10)

It strictly says when praying. Not only thay but women are NOT the glory of men but the glory of God. So don't make it sound like we belong to men. Women were created as a PARTNER. Doesn't mean if men came first, we are in the disposition of men. God offered Adam a partner, period. Men and women are partners to eachother. Stop making ur mysogeny that u corrupted the quran, to corrupt the Bible too. U shouldn't preach if u have no idea what ur talking about

The Quran is universal, unlike the Bible. Bible has gone through changes over centuries. Allah has revealed the Quran and he told himself that he will protect it. Therefore, each and every verse of the Quran is the same wherever we go. I do not believe fully believe in Hadiths because they are after all written by humans and also have gone through changes.

You do know that quran was transmitted the same way as the hadith mutawaatir, don't you? Also we need the Hadith to understand the Quran, so why would Allah leave us without it? Allah said: "O believers! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger" (4:59) So how are we supposed to obey the messenger (saw) if you dont even beleive in hadiths? And if you want to obey Allah, you must obey the messenger (saw) and that necessitates beleiving in hadith. The prophet (saw) said:

“I have left you with two matters which will never lead you astray, as long as you hold to them: the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of his Prophet.” (Source: al-Muwaṭṭa’ 1661)
