Seyyed Hossein Nasr was born in Tehran where he received his early education. he later studied in the west and received his B.S. from MIT and his M.A and Ph.D. from Harvard University , where he studied the history of science and philosophy. In 1958 he returned to Iran and taught at Tehran University where he was professor of the History of Science and Philosophy. From 1974 he was also professor of Islamic studies at the George Washington University, Washington DC. He is the author of over twenty books on Islam and Sufism including the best selling A Young Muslim Guide to the Modern World.
