Speaker: Khurram Murad

Muslims living in a non-Muslim environment are always worried about and protective of their children. They should be; children are the future of any nation, tribe or a country. As Muslims our responsibilities are much greater, because the future of Islam depends upon our children.

Islamic scholar and activist Khurram Murad brings a unique perspective to this discussion. In this vide, he advises: "Think of all the children living around you as your own and think of this land as your own land. Only by trying to save everyone, we will be able to save our own families: otherwise, saving our children will remain an elusive, selfish, and defensive strategy."

In this speech by the veteran Islamic worker, Khuram Murad makes a powerful argument that saving all of society, Muslim and non-Muslim, is really the only way to truly save our children as well.

Talks come and talks go, words evaporate into thin air, but ocassionally a few words leave a true and deep impression on the hearts of the people. Such talks are few and fewer indeed are the speakers that are able to bring life to their message and unfold to the listeners the vast, spacious yet simple world of Islam, creating within them the desire to give up all and live for it.

AuthorBio: Ustaz Khurram Murad (1932-1996) was one of those men, one of those speakers, one of those daiyas. He was a civil engineer by profession and obtained his professional degrees from Pakistan and America and worked as a leading consulting engineer at Karachi, Dhaka, Teheran and Riyadh. But the Muslim world remembers him as a great Islamic Scholar and thinker. Since his youth he was involved in the Islamic movement. He was a student of Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Mawdudi and served as President of Islami Jam'at Talaba, Pakistan (1951-1952); Director General of the Islamic Foundation UK (1978-1986); a member of the Central Executive, Jama'at Islami, Pakistan (1963-1996) and Amir of its Dhaka (1963-1997) and Lahore (1987-1989) branches.

He was also the editor of the monthly Tarjumanul Quran, Lahore and the quarterly Muslim World Book Review, UK. He wrote more than 30 books in English and Urdu including 13 books for children, whom he loved dearly. He helped establish the organization Young Muslims in the UK. He was also among the founders of the Muslim Student Association in North America. He loved to give Dawa to non-Muslims and finished 3 books for them just a day before he passed away.
