McDonald's Corporate Responsibility &
American Muslims' Civic Responsibility
Consumer Advisory Board
- It is welcoming that McDonald's is appointing an advisory board. The following
changes will make it work with greatest success for consumers as well as McDonald's.
- We respectfully request that the advisory board proposed in the settlement
be modified in the following manner:
- Two members from each of the following groups who are experts in their
dietary practices as well as in the food and nutrition industry be included
in the board: Muslims, Hindus, Jews, Vegetarians, and senior citizens.
McDonald's can choose from a list of five persons given by each of these
groups.
- Two members nominated by the Consumer Union should also be a part of
the advisory board.
- The budget should be increased to $180,000 annually for three years
to incorporate student interns during the summer.
- The focus of the advisory board should be to address the dietary concerns
of these groups.
- Their findings should be made public including McDonald's response
to it.
- 91% Muslims surveyed ask McDonald's to enhance the advisory board.
- We believe that such an advisory board will be a strong public relation
tool for McDonald's while establishing a new corporate standard for consumer
responsiveness.
