McDonald's Corporate Responsibility &
American Muslims' Civic Responsibility
What is in My Apple Pie?
- McDonald's is as American as Apple Pie
- But what is in my Apple Pie?
- McDonald's Apple Pie has L-cysteine!
- What is L-cysteine?
- A chemical, of course!
- But according to one of the organizations to which McDonald's is offering
cy pres funds, 99% L-cysteine in America was extracted from human hair…yuck!
- Dunkin Donuts recently changed the use of this chemical in their products.
- What is the source of McDonald's L-cysteine?
- McDonald's uses L-cysteine at least in four of their products including
Cinnamon Rolls and Tortilla
- If McDonald's L-cysteine is derived from human hair, we urge you to please
stop this practice as soon as possible. [In an email after this presentation
was delivered, McDonald's has stated that they do not use L-cysteine extracted
from human hair.]

| Something to Ask... | O Allah! You are my Rubb. There is no true god except You. You have created me, and I am Your slave, and I hold to Your Covenant as far as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge the favours that You have bestowed upon me, and I confess my sins. Pardon me, for none but You has the power to pardon. |
