McDonald's Corporate Responsibility &
American Muslims' Civic Responsibility
McDonaldization of the World
- The term is borrowed from Benjamin Barbar, a political scientist who describes
the global village using this term.
- But considering that there are more McDonald's restaurants in the world
than in America alone (16,000 versus 13,000), how the world perceives McDonald's
is important: either as working with consumers or as an arrogant part of America.
- Muslims, Hindus, Vegetarians and Jews make up no less than 2.5 billion people
or half of humanity.
- This simple consumer information system has the potential of being a significant
public relations move for McDonald's corporation in the world where McDonald's
sued two vegetarians in UK—yes! McDonald’s sued two vegetarians,
not the reverse as may be expected, Hindus burned McDonald's in India out
of outrage and Muslims boycotted McDonald's in Egypt; such consumer reaction
does not create a positive image.
