| 089.001. By the break of Day |
089.001. By the Dawn |
| 089.002. By the Nights twice five; |
089.002. And ten nights, |
| 089.003. By the even and odd (contrasted); |
089.003. And the Even and the Odd, |
| 089.004. And by the Night when it passeth away;- |
089.004. And the night when it departeth, |
| 089.005. Is there (not) in these an adjuration (or evidence) for those who understand? |
089.005. There surely is an oath for thinking man. |
| 089.006. Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),- |
089.006. Dost thou not consider how thy Lord dealt with (the tribe of) A'ad, |
| 089.007. Of the (city of) Iram, with lofty pillars, |
089.007. With many-columned Iram, |
| 089.008. The like of which were not produced in (all) the land? |
089.008. The like of which was not created in the lands; |
| 089.009. And with the Thamud (people), who cut out (huge) rocks in the valley?- |
089.009. And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley; |
| 089.010. And with Pharaoh, lord of stakes? |
