Subject: Upcoming Eid-ul-Adha holiday– Friday January 21, 2005

Dear (Teacher's Name):
We hope that this letter reaches you in the best of health and spirits. We truly value your efforts in educating our son/daughter.

During the next few weeks an important Islamic celebration will be taking place, observed by over one billion Muslims around the world. This celebration is called Eid-ul-Adha, "The Celebration of the Sacrifice". It is the second most important annual Islamic holiday.

Eid-ul-Adha is expected to fall on Friday January 21, 2005 this year. As it is with holidays in other faiths, this is a time of prayer, charity, celebration, family get-togethers and gift-giving.

Please excuse our son/daughter from their daily classes on Friday January 21 as we plan to celebrate this joyous occasion. If there is any test scheduled that day, our son/daughter is willing to take it before or after that date. In addition, our son/daughter can submit assignments due and homework assigned that day earlier in the week.

If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to contact us at home at (your phone number). Thank you for your time and attention.

Your name.

Comment: I have a daughter who, for want of a nearby Muslim school, currently attends a Christian mission school. I also know of other Muslim children in the same school. Insha Allah, I will forward this letter to the school and hopefully make a lasting impact on the seriousness we attach to our Deen and by extension our Muslim festivals - even though we are sending our children to a school run by other faiths. Maa Salaam

Comment: You haven't mentioned the core importance of Eid-ul-Adha in your letter as this is a celebration to follow or emulate the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim. I think this is very important to mention about Prophet Ibrahim as he is equally respected by all faiths (Christians, Jews and Muslims); the letter will be more effective with this....

Surah Ayah
Something to Ask...
O Allah!
I ask You by every name that You have, that You have called Yourself by, that You have taught any of Your Creation, that You have revealed in Your Book, or that You may have kept secret with Yourself.
Make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my breast, the dispeller of my sorrows, the eraser of my anxieties and worries.
