Comment: Assalaamualaikum, I lived in Sydney for 4 yrs while pursuing my degree. While there, I craved for McDonald's and asked an employee what they used to fry the fries in. She said confidently, "Canola oil" which sounds very vegetarian to me. I placed my order happily and consumed the fries that day. However I had a nagging feeling about it and a few days later asked another employee what oil they used. He said "Beef tallow". U can imagine my shock and utter disgust. Then a few days later, a Jewish woman advised me against having the milkshake there as it contained pork fat, she said. Needless to say, I stayed away from McDonald's till I got home where it's halal alhamdulillah. Oh and when I visited Perth in Western Australia, one of their employees also said they fry their fries in beef tallow. Wallahu'alam
