Comment:America is a third world country.When I was there on the east coast I was very disapointed with the state of the inner cities.Everywhere I could see urban blight and visable poverty.Shame on you America.Why cant you be more like Australia.In the lucky county,Australia,we have free health care and subsidised education.Everyone in Australia has access to these services. SHAME ON YOU AMERICA. you are nothing but a third world country

Comment:good stats on food wastage...interesting that so much food is wasted. i wonder why other racial groups are not represented with poverty rates? this country, especially the area i'm from has a lot of middle eastern people. most likely information was not available for the other racial groups, but it would be interesting to find out what their povery rate is too.

Comment:A good article looking at the real problems that face many American's. The other real problem I believe is facing this same group of people is the cost of health care in America. The only crticism I have relates to the stats on the budget surplus. Most of the surplus that was predicted several years ago does not seem to be materialising due to increased government spending on defence and the large tax cuts that are being passed on the the weathliest people in America; leaving many states facing a huge financial crisis at this time.
