Comment:Salaam alaikum. I performed the hajj in Jan. 2005. This article is quite educative, it covers the basic things you need to do/get before you go on hajj.

Comment:I just like to add a few comments.
I do not recommend buying any Ihram, belt slippers etc esp if you are travelling from states.
Everything is available in Saudi Arab and it is way cheaper over there.
Try to carry minimum with you. Only the essentials that you can not do with out it. Take your prescription meds with you. Most of the meds are available over there.
One advice " Go with pure heart, think only about god, be nice to your fellow Hujjaj"
May Allah accept your deeds.

|O Allah! |
You are my Rubb. There is no true god except You. You have created me, and I am Your slave, and I hold to Your Covenant as far as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge the favours that You have bestowed upon me, and I confess my sins. Pardon me, for none but You has the power to pardon.
