| Description |
A young Muslim boy named Cheng Ho is sent by his father to take a gold-leaf Quran to the great city of Canton as a gift to the Muslims there. However, before Cheng Ho begins his voyage, his parents warn him to beware of the evil and greedy magician Shang-tiani, whom they fear might try to take the gold-leaf Quran from him. Cheng Ho's mother warns him not to stop anywhere on the way to try to catch butterflies for his collection. However, on his way to Canton, Cheng Ho sees a rare and lovely butterfly along the shore, and he begins to chase it. He remembers his parents' warning, and although he always listens to his parents, he feels that there is no danger, and he continues chasing the butterfly. Through hills and valleys, Cheng Ho runs after the butterfly, and when he finally catches it, he is lost. As it begins to get dark, Cheng Ho finds a run-down hut and decides to take shelter there. However, when he enters, he finds the evil Shang-tiani there. Shang-tiani tells Cheng Ho that he has tricked him with the butterfly in order to lure him to his hut so that he can take the gold from the Quran.
Cheng Ho flees from the hut with Shang-tiani chasing him. Cheng Ho realizes his mistake of not listening to his parents and asks Allah's forgiveness. While hiding in the woods, Cheng Ho meets a good magician who tells him how to defeat Shang-tiani. Cheng Ho follows the good magician's directions to trick Shang-tiani into falling into a bottomless pit, and the plan works. Once Shang-tiani is defeated, Cheng Ho continues his voyage, delivers the gold-leaf Quran to the people of Canton, and returns home.
In his du'a, Cheng Ho tells Allah that he will always obey his parents in the future.
