| Description |
How was the Quran compiled? How should we approach the Quran? How do we understand the Quran? How is it interpreted? These are just some of the questions that this landmark book attempts to address.
The development and disciplines and branches of knowledge which were related to the understanding of the Quran and are considered necessary for this purpose - what we call Ulum al-Quran - began in the lifetime of the Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) himself.
Numerous books have since been written on this topic in most Muslim languages. However, until now there was no book in English on this subject. The author has therefore rendered a great service by compiling the first English book on this topic which fills a very serious and deeply felt gap. An average English reader who has no access to an Arabic text like Al-Itqan had nothing to help him/her in understanding the Quran. This book should now provide valuable assistance in this task.
Ulum Al-Quran is precise, brief, yet quite comprehensive. It deals with the traditional subjects such as meaning of revelation, history and transmission of the text, the context of verses' revelation, exegesis, etc. as well as issues of more recent origin, like recordings of the Quran, Orientalists' views, translations and others.
The concluding chapter has valuable practical advice for reading and studying this Book of God.

| Something to Ask... | O Allah! I ask You for Your Love, the love of those who love You, and deeds which will cause me to attain Your Love. O Allah! Make Your Love dearer to me than myself, my family and the cold water. |
