Dr. Jamal Badawi is the director of the Islamic Information Foundation, Halifax, Canada. Dr. Badawi is a professor of Management at Saint Mary University in Halifax. He has authored several books and articles on Islam and designed and participated in the production of nearly 350 half hour segments of a TV series on Islam.

Comment: Very straight forward and useful introduction to the topic of gender issues in Islam. Our book club discussed this book last month, and feedback was very positive. Next week, we'll be presenting on this topic at our local mosque, using the book and its references to seed the dicussion.

The book is excellent and to the point. I have used the book to give a Friday Khutbah in my local mosque. This is the kind of information that somehow should be made avilable to non-Muslims; and we should live up to it by our actions.
